Proper bagels, by the sea

Fresh Organic Bagels in Worthing

Hand-shaped, boiled, baked and filled to order in Bath Place, a short walk from Worthing Pier. Grab one, plus a coffee, and go and say hello to the sea.

Not a chain. Not trying to be one.

Jacob's Bagels is a small local bagel shop in Bath Place, Worthing. We started in 2020 because we wanted a proper fresh bagel and couldn't find one, so we learned to make them ourselves.

Now the Worthing shop is the heart of what we do: good ingredients, proper methods, friendly faces and bagels worth coming back for. Read our story, or have a nose at today's menu.

How a proper bagel happens

No shortcuts, and definitely no bread rolls with a hole in. Every bagel goes through the same three stages.

  1. Shaped by handEvery bagel is rolled and shaped by a person, not a machine.
  2. BoiledA quick dip in the water bath gives that glossy, chewy crust.
  3. BakedInto the oven for colour and crunch. Then straight to the counter.
